Qualifications

Experience

Patrick Leamy, PhD, RAC, CISS has over 20 years experience in biomaterials and tissue banking  R&D and quality assurance with a focus on sterilization process development and ensuring efficient and compliant sterilization programs.  Patrick brings specific expertise in developing and sterilizing tissue-based biomaterials, biopolymers and other materials where balancing sterilization effectiveness and minimizing material modifications are critical to product performance.

Qualifications: About Me

Patrick has built sterilization programs from the ground up including

  • Selection of sterilization methods and process parameters based on published data and original experiments on material structure/properties as part of research and new product development.

  • Developing manufacturing processes that result in a low and consistent product bioburden to ensure consistent sterilization while maintaining product performance.

  • Sterilization process development and validation: Radiation and Ethylene Oxide.

  • Bioburden monitoring and dose audit programs.

  • Engineering studies and validations to ensure product and package performance after sterilization.

  • Data to support regulatory submissions.

  • Conducting internal audits and gap analyses.

  • Supplier audits for sterile or aseptically manufactured components.

  • Supporting regulatory audits and inspections.

  • Finding the root cause and implementing corrective and preventive actions related to out of trend bioburden and endotoxin related to raw materials or processing.
